The abuse awareness microcredential will allow the learner to explore the rights of Canadians thoroughly and be able to identify the various kinds of abuse the clients of a support worker and the support worker themselves may face. How to recognize signs, how to interview, and how to report suspected abuse are discussed in this microcredential. Knowing the rights of the clients and the support worker will work together to protect the support workers and the vulnerable from abuse in Canada.

2. Types and Signs of Abuse
3. Relationships and Those at Risk
4. Cycles of Abuse
5. Identify, Report, and Responsibility
6. Abusive Behaviour and Harassment

Admission Requirements:
- Government-Issued Photo ID
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Mature student ,18 years or older.
- IELTS 6.0 (B2) or equivalent *

Duration: Total length of the program is 30 hours. Our experienced Nurse Educators will coach you throughout the process.
Technical Specs: Our hybrid classes offer an online experience utilizing Augmented Reality, 3D Models, Videos and Virtual Simulation. A desktop or laptop is recommended. VR Goggles are welcomed for a full, richer experience. If you do not have VR Goggles, you can complete the tasks on a laptop or a desktop. IBT College provides technical support.
Certificate: Upon successful completion of the program you will receive an IBT College Dementia Care Certificate. A Dementia Care Certificate is in-demand now by many employers seeking Home Support Workers and Personal Support Workers in Ontario. It is a strongly recommended to upgrade your skills in this area.
